A Genie Carriage Trolley is installed on a Genie Screw Drive Garage Door Opener. This screw drive is what turns while the trolley is connected and grasped to the trolley. The trolley is connected to a J-Arm which is connected to the top section of the garage door. This is what holds the weight of the garage door and moves back and forth on the screw drive while operating. When the garage door gets heavy, it puts a lot of stress on the carriage trolley as it opens. The Genie carriage trolley is a small piece that can’t hold 200+ pounds of weight for a long period of time. The device is easy to replace, but it is an interruption to a working garage door motor. “Our garage door springs broke about 2 and a half months ago. Absolute Garage Doors in Riverside came out and replaced and repaired our garage door springs. A few months later our garage door opener was not lifting the garage door. We had no idea what was going on and why the garage door was not moving. We could manually release it from the garage door motor and open and close it by hand at ease. We could see the genie trolley skipping and hesitating to move back and forth on the motor rail. We had called Absolute Garage Doors in Riverside to come back out. We explained the issue and they already had an idea what was wrong and how it could be fixed. They gave us an accurate estimate and came out later that day to repair it. It was simple fix. We were glad we did not have to replace the entire garage door opener motor unit. The technician explained how this happened. Even though it is a common repair, when our garage door spring broke, we still continued using the garage door with the garage door Genie motor. We used it a few times for a few weeks before we finally called. We had no idea the garage door was that heavy without the garage door spring. He explained to us it just put a little stress on the Genie garage door motor, but the Genie Trolley Carriage took the hit and that piece was an easy fix. The teeth on the carriage trolley piece were filed down and could not catch the screw drive when were pushing the remote to open or to even close. I am glad it was an easy inexpensive piece to fix. Thank you Absolute Garage Doors. We will definitely recommend you guys to everyone we know.”
